In an exclusive interview with Al-Majallah, Mullah Krekar commented on the US allegations that new terrorist attacks are imminent. He said that he does not believe the US administration's claim that there is a plan to carry out a bigger terrorist operation on the United States than the 11 September attacks.
He added: The US administration wishes to frighten the US people in order to justify its flouting of UN resolutions, its violation of human rights in Iraq, and its holding of prisoners at the Guantanamo Base. US President George Bush wants to justify his use of the US taxpayers' money in the wars that he has waged and wants to cover up the great losses that the US occupation forces are suffering in Iraq.
He pointed out that his special sources have assured him that the US administration has tied the hands of Al-Jazirah and Al-Arabiyah television stations to prevent them from freely reporting the facts about the large losses caused by the attacks carried out by the Iraqi resistance. He explained that formerly the world's media frequently used Al-Jazirah and Al-Arabiyah as their news sources. He noted that the Americans want everybody to believe what the CNN, Fox News, and NBC report.
Commenting on the Iraqi resistance, Mullah Krekar told Al-Majallah: The Iraqi Sunnis are determined to continue the resistance against the occupation and are sending clear signals to the Kurds in the north and the Shiites in the south not even to think of starting a civil war against the Sunnis.
Mullah Krekar revealed that Patriotic Union of Kurdistan leader Jalal Talabani and current president of the transitional Governing Council Abd-al-Aziz al-Hakim have agreed to form joint militias that will operate together with Ahmad Chalabi's and Iyad Allawi's militias to confront the Sunni forces, especially in the Al-A'zamiyah area.
He said that it is unlikely that the United States will attack Syria because the war in Iraq is continuing and is causing large losses every day. He remarked: What proves this is Paul Bremer's recent admission that he had been the target of an assassination attempt. This also demonstrates that they wish to prevent the facts from being known.
Mullah Krekar pointed out that Syria, Algeria, and Libya would not be able to withstand any military strike because their populations would rise against their leaders who violate human rights in their countries.
He also ruled out a military strike against Iran despite the existence of a significant domestic opposition to the Iranian regime. He explained that this is so because half of Iranian society is ideological and will confront the United States if it attacks the country.
Mullah Krekar praised (Kurdistan Democratic Party leader) Mas'ud Barzani and called him a balanced man who will play a significant role in Iraq in the near future. He said that Barzani does not bear a grudge against the Arabs as Talabani does. He pointed out that what proves this is the fact that Barzani made it possible for the former Iraqi defense minister to surrender in a dignified manner and in the presence of human rights representatives. He noted that Barzani did this because the former minister is a fellow countryman. He said that Talabani does the opposite and insults every former Iraqi official who surrenders.
